What is CCTS? India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (Energy Conservation Amendment Act 2022) mandates emission intensity reduction targets for ~740 entities in 9 industrial sectors. Entities that over-achieve targets earn Carbon Credit Certificates (CCCs) that can be traded on exchanges. Those falling short must purchase CCCs to comply. First trading is expected mid-2026 on BSE/NSE.
